Nurun ala Nur: Light Upon Light was inspired by the Verse of Light from the Quran. The piece was an exercise in discovering a variety of sonic expressions based on the parable of light as described in the verse. The composition includes references to a prayer for light, attributed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad. Peace be Upon Him.) The piece looks at the individual's journey to shed the layers of ego to reveal light within in. Like a rainfall of grace from the Divine, once touched by light we have the capacity to liberate others from their own light and live in peaceful co-existence with knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
